We are looking for bachelor theses that deal with theoretical and conceptual issues. This is usually done by examining the theories, considerations, proposals and concepts of authors from Sociology (especially Sociology of Knowledge and Education) or related subjects (Philosophy, Cultural Studies, etc.). We are looking for master theses that, analogous to the bachelor thesis, deal decidedly with questions of theory, i.e. with the theoretical knowledge of authors and make this theoretical knowledge their own, criticize or irritate it – and thus want to systematically deepen their own knowledge. We also supervise master theses that are designed as empirically oriented works in the sense of ‘theoretical empiricism’ (Kalthoff et al. 2008) and pursue the goal of formulating conceptual questions on the basis of independent qualitative research and working on them empirically and analytically.
